First Drive-In Funeral Home in Japan


More than 99,8% burials in Japan are with cremation. The Japanese funeral tradition describes in a detailed way the cremation ritual, in which participates the family of the deceased.

The Japaneses society is ageing and not all members of the family can stay in a queue to pay tribute to the deceased. The funeral home Ueda-Minami Aishoden from Nagano found a solution and offers the first drive-through funeral services.

The service is dedicated to older people and those with physical disabilities. The registration can be made by tablet and then, the farewell can be made from a car, without leaving it.
